I like this a lot. So much so that I'm going to write my first ever critique on DevArt. So... here goes.

I feel like the most important aspect of working in a unique medium like this is the ability to take advantage of it's strengths and create something that would be impossible in other mediums.

This is a piece that does exactly that. The layering creates an amazing sense of depth and your use of different colors of wood makes everything stand out clearly. The whole piece just pops.

Your art style is delightful as well. There's a lot of personality in the characters even though their expressions are very simple, and there's a ton of detail without making everything feel cluttered. I also love how you've managed to tell a story and show the cat's journey in a static image.

I wish I could offer some constructive criticism but I can't find anything to complain about. As an engineer the asymmetrical wonky gears bother me, but I realize that's just part of the cartoon-ish style, and is likely intentional.

Fantastic work. You've really managed to take full advantage of the layered plywood and create something exceptional.
